Carey Fraser

Lady Carey Fraser (c.1658-13 May 1709) was a British courtier.[1][2] She was Maid of Honour to Queen Catherine of Braganza from 1674 - 1680. Lady Carey is one of the Hampton Court Beauties painted by Sir Godfrey Kneller for Queen Mary II She was styled: Lady Cary Fraser, Viscountess Mordaunt, Countess of Monmouth, and Countess of Peterborough.

Family

Her father was Sir Alexander Fraser of Dores (1607–1681), Physician to Charles II of England, and her mother was Mary Carey, daughter of Sir Ferdinando Carey and Philippa Tockmorton.

She married Viscount Charles Mordaunt (1658–1735), later Earl of Monmouth and 3rd Earl of Peterborough in 1678. The marriage was, however, kept secret until May 1680.
